ABA Connections is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, dedicated, and reliable Senior Therapist to oversee a client caseload and lead a team of therapists in the development and implementation of programming. The Senior Therapist will be directly responsible for the assessment, treatment, consultation, education, and resource support of clients and their families. In addition, a Senior Therapist at ABA Connections is responsible for educating and training new staff on professional and clinical skills as well as client and company protocols. 

Senior Therapists are expected to serve as the facilitator for the clinical team by providing effective communication between team members, leading regular team meetings, managing and disseminating client data, and ensuring all team members have the necessary support, training, and materials to ensure their clients achieve their full potential. Senior Therapists meet regularly with the Clinical Supervisor to review caseloads, receive training and troubleshoot as a team. 

Senior Therapists are to act in accordance with the Professional and Ethical Compliance Code for Behavior Analysts and the Applied Behavior Analysts Treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder: Practice Guidelines for Healthcare Funders and Managers (2nd Edition).

Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Hours Per Week: 30-37.5 Hours per week, with possibility of occasional evenings and weekends

Job Description

Program Development and Implementation
  • Selecting treatment goals based on assessment results and family/professionals input
  • Updating Client Program Lists
  • Maintaining detailed notes pf progress, key decisions, and update points
  • Creating program goals under the supervision of a Clinical Supervisor
  • Assist in the development, writing, implementation and writing of behaviour plans
  • Monitoring treatment fidelity
  • Assist in the planning transitions for clients and their families
Collaboration, Consultation, and Communication
  • Collaborate with other team members in the development of programs and procedures
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and family members as required
  • Participate in scheduled team meetings and conferences as required
  • Present information (both written and oral) sensitively and effectively
  • Collaborate with clinical team regarding programming and client progress
  • Work withing a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Teachers, Speech Pathologists etc. 
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between all team members on a clients team including staff, Clinical Supervisors, parents, and outside professionals
Clinical Responsibilities 
  • Competent in the principles and applications of Applied Behavior Analysis
  • Conduct skill acquisition and behaviour reduction assessments
  • Complete reports based on assessment results
  • Discuss assessment results and goals with clinical team and family
  • Complete regular consultations with clients
  • Update and maintain data collection systems
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behaviours
  • Conduct parent and caregiver training in line with client’s individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols
  • Effectively communicate with parent and caregivers regarding client progress
  • Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required training
  • Ability to interpret and implement clinical protocols as written
  • Exercise sound clinical judgement
Supervision and Training Responsibilities 
  • Provide positive and constructive feedback to staff regarding clinical and professional skills on a regular basis
  • Write and facilitate staff performance evaluations in collaboration with Clinical Supervisors and management
  • Provide supervision of staff performing 1:1 direct therapy with clients
  • Provide initial and ongoing staff education and training on client behavioural needs and professional skills
  • Ability to train staff and parents to fluency on various protocols and treatment techniques using verbal and written explanations, modeling, and guided practice
  • Conduct parent and caregiver training in line with client’s individualized treatment and behaviour reduction protocols
Professional Responsibilities
  • Open and close the center
  • Facilitate day-to-day operations of the team by ensuring all necessary paperwork, materials, scheduling, and client documentation are up to date
  • Model and maintain a high standard of professionalism, work ethic, flexibility and problem-solving
  • Address client concerns and questions appropriately, redirecting or relaying concerns to Clinical Supervisor and/or management when necessary
  • Consult with Clinical Supervisor and/or management regarding issues and concerns related to service delivery and/or staff performance
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of ABA Connections
  • Abide by the ethical code as indicated by the Behavior Analysts Certification Board
  • Maintain client confidentiality 
  • Adhere to privacy laws including, but not limited to PIPEDA and PHIPA

Qualifications

Education
  • University Degree related to Behavioural Science, Psychology, or Early Childhood Development (required)
  • Possession or working towards BCBA or BCaBA certification (highly preferred)
Experience
  • Experience working with young children who have been diagnosed with Autism, Pervasive Development Disorder, experience working with children 
  • A minimum of 1 year experience as Senior Therapist or within the field of ABA
  • A minimum of 2 years exemplary experience as a ABA Therapist/Instructor Therapist
  • Demonstrated experience applying the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) 
  • Experience in behavior management and modification techniques, specifically with children and youth

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule between the hours of 7:00 am to 7:30 pm for 35-40 hours per week (required)
  • Valid Drivers license and access to a personal vehicle for home and community visits (preferred)
  • Fluently bilingual in English and French (preferred)
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Level C (required)
  • Clean Vulnerable Sector Police Check (required)
