ABA Therapist – Nepean

ABA Connections is seeking creative, enthusiastic, dedicated and reliable ABA Therapists to deliver front-line services to clients using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Position Type: Permanent, Part-Time or Full-Time

Location: 190 Colonnade Road, Nepean

Hours Per Week:  20-35 hours per week, with possibility of additional hours based on availability and organizational needs. Please note: Evenings and/or Weekends May be Required.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: $18.00 – $22.00; based on education and experience

Job Description

Program Preparation
  • Prepare and organize the teaching environment and materials
  • Review available information pertaining to clients on caseload
  • Participate in assessment activities as appropriate
 
 Individualized Program Implementation
  • Provide front-line services under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and clinical team
  • Follow prescribed programs as written and seek consultation as needed
  • Utilize sound clinical judgement
  • Assess clients’ skills, abilities, interests, strengths and needs
  • Collect and graph data to be used to evaluate progress towards program goals
  • Prepare written documentation regarding children’s plans and progress as required
 
Collaboration, Consultation, and Communication
  • Collaborate with other team members in the development of programs and procedures
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and family members as required
  • Participate in scheduled team meetings and conferences as required
  • Present information (both written and oral) sensitively and effectively
  • Collaborate with clinical team regarding programming and client progress
  • Work withing a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Teachers, Speech Pathologists etc.

  • Model and maintain a high standard of professionalism, work ethic, flexibility and problem-solving
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of ABA Connections
  • Abide by the ethical code as indicated by the Behavior  Analysts Certification Board
  • Maintain client confidentiality 
  • Adhere to privacy laws including, but not limited to PIPEDA and PHIPA

Qualifications

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Possess or be working towards a College Diploma or University Degree related to Behavioural Science, Psychology, or Early Childhood Development (preferred)
Experience
  • Experience working with young children who have been diagnosed with Autism (required), Pervasive Development Disorder (preferred), experience working with children (required)
  • Demonstrated experience applying the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) (preferred)
  • Experience in behavior management and modification techniques, specifically with children and youth (highly preferred)
Professional
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Valid Drivers license and access to a personal vehicle for home and community visits (preferred)
  • Fluently bilingual in English and French (preferred)
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Level C (required)
  • Clean Vulnerable Sector Police Check (required)
